Many were thinking that Aksel Lund Svindal had been given a bum deal in taking bib number 1 for the Birds of Prey Downhill in Beaver Creek but the Norwegian proved them wrong by starting from the front and winning the race. In the pre race interviews, Bode Miller was of the belief that number 1 could be the winning number and so it proved. Beat Feuz, winner in Lake Louise added 80 more points to his haul for Downhill this season in taking second place and there was a surprise with Thomas Dressen of Germany coming home in third.
