Nicole Shering traveled up from the south coast of England but did not let this put her off in taking the win in the Norfolk Club National. Shering took the race win ahead of Lauren Vale with local racers Megan Skipper in third and Hannah Burroughs in fourth.

Shering is fast proving to be the class act on the dry slope this summer. This was a dominant performance ahead of Vale, who herself is looking comfortable at the business end of races. The difference between Shering and the rest of the field was comfortable and her margin of victory was just under half a second with Vale and further three tenths ahead of Skipper.

Shering could be an early favourite for success at the All England later on in the summer if she can perform to this standard again yet you feel there is still more to come from the Snowtrax racer. When the All England come around at the end of the season, the likes of Emily Evans, a past winner of the All England and now a coach returning to race, will give Shering a stronger challenge than she faced in Norfolk.

If Shering was comfortable at the top of the timing board, Vale was equally comfortably ahead of Skipper. Skipper took the race to Vale on the third run and the two posted the same time. Skipper was almost a second ahead of her team mate, Burroughs who was in turn faster than Ellie Jackson who posted the sixth fastest time.

Jackson bettered the time set by Joely Side on the first run to move up the leader board on run two, finishing just shy of Burroughs time but could not force the issue on the third run and finished in fifth overall.

To put Shering’s performance in context she would have finished in the top fifteen of the men’s race. It is this sort of measurement she needs to be looking at now if she is to improve. For the rest of the girls, they need to up their game to challenge Shering at the top of the leaderboard. The bar has been set by Shering, the rest need to rise to the challenge.

The age group victories were taken by Emma Trust (Under 14, 11th Overall); Ellie Jackson (Under 16, 5th Overall); Nicole Shering (Under 18, Race Winner); Jessica Tubbs (Under 21, 6th Overall) and Emily Goddard (Masters, joint 8th Overall).
