It was only her fourth World Cup downhill, but Christine Scheyer of Austria won the Altenmarkt downhill by 0.39 seconds ahead of Liechtenstein’s Tina Weirather, with Jacqueline Wiles of the USA in third. The last few days Altenmarkt has had very heavy snowfall and yesterday’s race and all the scheduled training days were cancelled forcing the organisors to run the one training run needed on the morning of the race. It was the first time this week that they were able to ski the course and that meant it was a quick learning process for most the skiers on race day.
