British Ski and Snowboard are pleased to announce the British Nordic Squad for the 2016/17 season.
The success of British Nordic athletes over the past few years has not gone unnoticed within Nordic skiing circles. British Nordic’s top skiers are now in the top 20 in the world ranking after a successful 2015/2016 season, and even made British history when Andrew Young became the first Brit to podium in a world cup sprint event in Toblach, Italy.
Four athletes were selected by the British Olympic Association to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, and many have ambitions to compete at the PyeongChang Winter Games in 2018 in South Korea.
The senior team are FIS registered athletes, competing in Continental and World Cup events such as the Tour de Ski. Many of them have competed in the World Junior Championships, World Under 23 Championships, World University Games and the Winter Olympic Games in 2010 and 2014.
The Junior and Youth squads consist of skiers who have just started competing at FIS races – these athletes compete at international level across Europe and Scandinavia, as well as attend World Junior Championships, European and World Junior Olympics.
