Not since Finlay Mickel qualified for the World Cup Finals in 2009 has Britain been on the cusp of having an athlete qualify for the end of season shoot-out. Only the top 25 racers in each discipline (plus those that have scored over 500 World Cup points) get a ticket to go to the final race in each discipline and it is awesome that Dave Ryding is on the cusp of qualifying with his latest result in Japan. With alpine racing in the UK under a huge strain for not having delivered results, Ryding is almost single-handedly for the men, bringing the team back into the attention of the powers that be!
