The decision to cancel both World Cup races at the weekend will not have been taken lightly. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a Giant Slalom was scheduled and before even the first runner left the start gate the race was called off. In Maribor, the thin strip of snow did not make for pleasant viewing and although they had had a Giant Slalom the day before and 25 or so runners had started the race, conditions were deteriorating so quickly it was evident the race would not finish.
