The future is looking bright for Guest

It has been a tough time for Charlie Guest after injuring her back in early season training in December 2014. Guest recovered to make the Delancey British Alpine World Championship Ski team in Vail Beaver Creek last February. While second in a FIS race in Austria saw her score a season best result for last season, this season has started off in great form for the Perth racer. A win in Treble Cone and a sub 15 FIS point slalom result bettered the result from Goestling back in February. …

Guest has been using the MakeAChamp.com fundraising programme to raise funds to cover her season for the last two years and the result from Treble Cone plus the news that she is back on her Giant Slalom skis as well, always makes for positive and exciting reading. Ski racing at all levels can be expensive and the little help that people can give all goes towards the bigger picture. Guest for her part keeps those interested in her progress regular updates on how she is getting on.

After her win in Treble Cone, Guest was quick to thank those that had helped her along the way on her Facebook pages: “Today was a great day! I finally held it together out of this start gate for 2 runs and got my first win since my injury last November with my best result ever ! Thank you so much to everyone that has helped me along the way! If you believe in me and you want to help keep these results coming please head to www.makeachamp.com/charlieguest – there are just 10 days left to raise as much as possible to keep my season going in this direction … and Ski Racing Supplies – A special thank you … your wax was working a dream! #‎FastSkis #‎HappyRacer

After all the problems with fitness in the last ten months, Guest was even more understandably happy to announce that she is now back on her Giant Slalom skis. Guest told Racer Ready earlier this summer that she would only be doing Slalom at the New Zealand Games due to the pain in her back. This now seems to be recovering.

As her summer camp drew to a close she sent out a message to her supporters: “I HAVE GS SKIS BACK ON MY FEET !!! My back is feeling GRREEEEAAT, just in time to get a week of Giant Slalom training in. For the first time in over 6 months, I am training Giant Slalom pain free, and it is the best feeling in the world! #VeryHappyAthlete.”

With the support of Delancey along with equipment suppliers Head, Uvex and others, Guest is heading back in the right direction after injury.

It is not all glamour and glitz being a ski racer: The tough times are hard but when the recovery from injury starts to bear fruit, the feeling is great!
