One training run but what to expect from Lake Louise

Lake Louise is, according to Todd Brooker, one of the heroes of Canadian ski racing, “a truly Canadian event,” yet in 2014 the racers will have had one training run for the opening speed race of the winter. Trying to pick out a winner for the race is like trying to pick a winner in the Grand National. Little is known of the course despite the gates being in the same place as for the last couple of years as this sees the first time that Hannes Trinkl will be in charge of setting the course, not so much the gates but in the way the course is shaped – the jumps, the bumps and everything else that creates the course. And on top of this, this is the opening race of the season: training is done, now it is time to get down to business. …
